Insurance company internet office on Sharepoint CMS
Business Needs
A large insurance company requested the development of an internet office in order to improve their productivity and increase customer satisfaction. One of the requirements was that customers should be able to have their own profiles with fully customizable UI. Also, it was crucial that customer data should be easy to find based on both content (e.g. MS Office, Excell) and metadata (pictures, tasks, etc). "Customers should be able to find what they want without extra efforts. They do not want to spend their time finding the required data in tons of insurance documents" - said the president of the IT department.
Solution
In order to satisfy customer needs, we started to develop a solution based on MOSS 2007. The benefit of using CMS from Microsoft is that it is supplied with an advanced search engine which covered almost 90% of the specified requirements. Using an industry proven search engine from MS allowed us to undertake ‘information mining’ with minimal time and cost. Customer profiles were implemented via the use of out-of-the-box "MySites" Sharepoint features which, with the addition of web parts native support, made the UI of customer profiles fully customizable.
